The quiet hour
Every house has an hour when the light does the work for you. Ours is between five and six in the evening, when the sun comes in low through the kitchen window and the street outside goes briefly still.
I have started guarding that hour. No screens, no errands, no plans made for it. Just whatever the light happens to be doing, and me sitting near enough to watch.
